Fakta om fotografiets historie
Det første portrætgalleri åbnede i Paris i 1854 af franskmanden Gaspard-Félix Tournachon. Det blev hurtigt eftertragtet af byens berømtheder. Han arbejdede ikke med malede baggrunde, men fremhævede sine modeller i enkle omgivelser og enkelt lys. Han fotograferede også med kunstigt lys i Paris’ mørke katakomber
